About Melanie Miguel-Courtad



Melanie V. Miguel-Courtad is a labor and employment law certified specialist who is committed to the representation of individuals who have been wronged by their employers.  Whether an individual has been injured at work, the victim of unlawful termination, the victim of discriminatory harassment, or was denied overtime, leave or benefits, she will ensure that you receive the highest quality of representation. 

Melanie Miguel-Courtad graduated from John Carroll University in 1991 with a Bachelors and Arts Degree and went on to attend the Cleveland Marshall College of Law.  She obtained her Juris Doctorate Degree in 1994 and was admitted to practice Law in the State of Ohio in May 1995.  In 1998, she was admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Northern District of Ohio.  She is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association, Ohio Employment Lawyers Association, Cleveland Employment Lawyers, Cleveland Employment Lawyers Association, The Ohio Academy of Trial Lawyers and the Cleveland Academy of Trial Attorneys.  She has been named as an Ohio Super Lawyer for the past two years.  This is an award that only 5% of the lawyers in the State of Ohio receive each year.

Melanie V. Miguel-Courtad has been providing quality representation to employees for 14 years.   Melanie V. Miguel takes pride in providing quick and prompt responses to her clients.  Her practice is devoted to individuals who sustain work related injuries and to individuals who have been terminated or harassed on the basis of sex, handicap, race, age, national origin and religion.  She also represents employees who have been denied Family and Medical Leave, denied overtime and those individuals who have been the victims of retaliation by their employer.


Certified Specialist
 

Melanie Miguel-Courtad has been certified by the Ohio State Bar Association as a Specialist in Labor and Employment Law.  To obtain this certification, Ms. Miguel-Courtad had to show a substantial and continued involvement in this area of the law and pass an extensive written examination.
